A little about ourselves, and how we've come to this point...

Amy

I love coffee, food and wine... oh and don't forget cocktails.

I've worked in different hospitality settings since I was 17 years old, where I spent the last 8 years before Babel's as a restaurant manager.
After moving from West Sussex to Hastings with Ben, I soon realised that after working for other people all this time, why couldn't I do this myself...

It was always something I had dreamt about for many years, and after moving to Hastings and seeing what it had to offer, thought it could be the starting place for my dream. 

Vibrant, edgy and always busy, when I first wandered down George Street on a warm May Day Bank Holiday in 2019, I quickly saw how I could be here permanently, set up roots and give my dream a go... 

Although not being born and bred in this town, I can already see the potential it has and how I can make Babel's fit in for all.

Ben

Hi All, I'm Ben

As well as my partner Amy, I also have a strong desire for food and drink, especially a sharing platter, without the sharing...

Having lived in St Leonards all my life, I am all too familiar with Hastings, it's pro's and con's, it's quirks and it's amazing atmosphere, which has gone from strength to strength over the years.

I also have an entrepreneurial mind, and in this instance, have acted as a kind of facilitator to enable Amy to make her dream a reality... well along with some help from family members and a chap called Martin. Anyway, although together this is our business, Amy will be the face of the business day in and day out, doing the hard hours and really looking to put Babel's on the map. I'm really just here to support... oh and treat myself to a drink or two.

Mabel

I'm Mabel

I'm a little French Bulldog I like to sleep, eat and play!

I enjoy walks, finding sticks and pine cones and a little belly tickle. My main job will be to welcome mum home after a long day by giving her cuddles. And annoying dad by asking to take me out when he's working at home... woof!

We want to do things right and do it well, so we'll be dedicated to making sure your time with us is unlike anything else you’ve experienced. Our professional team behind the bar and kitchen want to provide food and drink to leave your mouth buzzing with layers of flavour, and also a full belly. Don’t believe us?
